Teaching Philosophy
Piano has brought me a creative outlet to explore my emotions and reflect. I look for students who are highly motivated to learn and committed to consistent, intentional practice. I aim to develop my students into well-rounded pianists who have an appreciation for all types of music, with a strong focus in classical. My teaching is focused on technique, timing, musical harmony, improvisation, ear training, attunement, and tone quality, encouraging students to develop a deeper relationship with music and their own expression.
I am primarily interested in teaching students ages 10 and up who are at intermediate to advanced. I also welcome beginner students, as well as younger students who are highly motivated to learn. I prefer students to have a well-maintained acoustic piano (upright or grand) at home.
My piano studio is in SE Portland in the Richmond neighborhood.
